Is that standard issue? Click big pic for better look. Pic from JCCC.

And Murdoc’s surprised that the El Salvadoran soldier can handle that heavy machine gun.

MO, Dig the paratrooper closest to the camera. He seems to be clearing or charging that heavy machine gun all by himself!

  2. Murdoc Says:

GL: Are you sure he’s not dropping it because it’s just too heavy? Poor guy.

  3. GeekLethal Says:

*snort* thanks for almost causing me to inhale coffee…

L MNO earplugs ….. he was standing too close to the guy next door and caught a husk in the ear.

  5. C-Low Says:

Talk about a war face on the brass earplug guy. Were is the ammo strings around the chest? Reminds me of some of these Leberian marksman stances. http://www.ehowa.com/features/liberianmarksmanship.shtml When all else fails look scary or cool at least and maybe your enemy will just run away. Sarcasm

C-Low, Those are classics. I heart the guy with the ruptured magazine spring, who’s about 3 seconds away from wondering why his weapon isn’t firing…. *SPROING* ‘Oh shizznit!’

  7. Vincente Says:

M, Salvadoreans (not Salvadorans, apparently, which I have been saying for years..) are some tough Gente. Look up the Atacatl Battalion, lest ye have doubts. V

The new army uniform really stands out against the woodland uniforms and a forest background. They seem to be a good fit for an urban/ desert environment but it might not be the best choice for a covert mission through the woods. (Then again since we are fighting mostly in deserts now its probably a good compromise)

The new cammo mentioned has even a smaller pattern then the forrest colours raindrop cammo. But cold war Polish cammo reveals very tiny black spots on a green background, similary to the white spots on some jeans. Don’t like that uniform…

  10. Bram Says:

The new ACU cammo sucks in the woods. Last weekend my unit was practicing patrols in the woods. While most of our soldiers are still wearing the old woodland pattern, some had the new stuff on. You can see the soldiers wearing the new cammo so much easier in the woods. The stuff is so bright in the sunlight it stands out and does not fade into the shadows the way most cammo does. I seriously doubt Infantry units will be wearing this stuff in any type of woodland environment when it counts.

This picture just cracks me up every time I look at it. C-Low is right, that’s a hell of a ‘war face’. I wouldn’t want to meet that guy in a dark alley. Especially if he’s carrying a heavy machine gun ;)

You wanna f**k with me? Okay. You wanna play rough? Okay. Say hello to my little friend!’ Anybody else reminded of Tony Montana?

He’s just motivated. Probably thinking of the ‘Ex’ or motherinlaw, or not so good investment banker. LOL!

  14. Steve Says:

The SAW/Minimi isn’t that heavy weight-wise, nor is there much tension on the spring. It’s easy to charge the weapon. It’s not even a heavy machine gun, it’s only 5.56mm. Being fired like this technically makes it an automatic rifle.

  15. Nicholas Says:

Steve - you realize we’re joking, right? Some armchair general guy was explaining how Zarqari was having trouble firing the M-249 because it’s a ‘heavy machine gun’. We’re just pointing out how silly that was.

  16. Steve Says:

Heh… I had no idea. I haven’t even gotten to see the infamous Zarqari video yet.

Some evidence of the mentioned polish cammo, I had a jacket once but I think my mother was once right throwing it away. http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/2730/dsc00014iw2.jpg This cammo (same source) is much… better! http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/5456/dsc00016dc7.jpg But… why need cammo to get the job done??? http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/2913/dsc00009ve1.jpg
