Iran eyes badges for Jews
Law would require non-Muslim insignia

If one year ago Murdoc had said this was going to happen you wouldn’t have believed him. I wouldn’t have, either. But here it is:

Human rights groups are raising alarms over a new law passed by the Iranian parliament that would require the country’s Jews and Christians to wear coloured badges to identify them and other religious minorities as non-Muslims.

…Iran’s roughly 25,000 Jews would have to sew a yellow strip of cloth on the front of their clothes, while Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would be forced to wear blue cloth.

The bill was first drafted a couple of years ago, but it was stuck in parliament until President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad specifically called for it to be revived. I mean, we all know that the Iranian leadership is deranged. But this is really quite something.

We’ll have to wait and see if this report is accurate. The lack of big-time coverage makes me either question the validity of the report or the loyalty of the big-time media. Right now I’m split 50-50 on that.

And I had no idea that there were 25,000 Jews in Iran.
