Defense Focus: Diesel sub wonder weapons

The diesel submarine may be the leading “Cinderella weapon” of the 21st century. It gets no respect in the United States or Russia. But China, India, France, Germany and Israel are all betting on it big time.

“Wonder weapon” might be pushing it a bit, but I do fear that the diesels don’t get enough respect.

A modern diesel sub, using fuel-cells powered by diesel fuel, is quieter than a Nuke, and can stay underwater for weeks. Nothing to sneeze at.

Yeah, instead of trying to hold +/-0.5 inch tolerances over the 200+ ft length of a ship, we could build real stealth boats that submerge for a fraction the cost. Your tax dollars at work again.
