Regarding Hurricanes from not so long ago. I came across this recently http://www.weatherstreet.com/hurricane/2007/named-storms-climatology.gif which shows the recent and long term distibution of ‘named storms’ 2007 is apparantly on track with model predictions. Note (again) that ‘Named Storms’ is different that ‘Hurricane Days’,

Yeah but the problem is they name any slightly rainy slightly windy thing as a hurricane even when it’s not. At least that’s what my scientist buddies tell me… they think it’s a joke.

Newest Medal of Honor Recipients Everyone knows at least one Veteran, but not everyone knows his story. When my Grandfather was alive his stories of fighting and pain frightened me. But looking back I’m glad I got to hear the struggles he dealt with, especially in today’s world when we’re at war yet so far from the danger. On the week of November 5th NBC Nightly News is airing a series profiling recipients of the Medal of Honor and it’s something I wish my Poppy could be a part of. Nightly is outlining their stories by collecting interviews with them, their families, and comrades. Their stories will also be complimented by the interviews with personal photographs, newsreel and archival footage and stills. If there’s a special Veteran in your life who can’t talk to anymore, definitely check this out @: http://www.methodshop.com/index.shtml

nicholas, Who is ‘they’? Which weather events are being reffered to? Who are these ’scientist buddies’? How are they qualified to provide sufficient critique?

This is actually related to a topic Murdoc brought up in last week’s Linkzookery. What a timely release, though. Just in time for Thanksgiving. I will enjoy an extra helping of turkey this year, thankyouverymuch.
