Attacks targeting Iraqi Christians kill 4 in Baghdad

A string of bombings targeting Baghdad’s Christian community killed at least four people and wounded 19 others Wednesday, officials said, less than two weeks after a bloody siege at a Baghdad church left scores dead.

Police said at least 11 roadside bombs detonated within an hour of each other in three predominantly Christian areas of central Baghdad early Wednesday. Four of the blasts hit houses belonging to Christians, and two mortar rounds also struck Christian enclaves of the predominantly Sunni neighborhood of Dora in south Baghdad.

I wonder what sort of response from the Iraqi military and police this is getting compared to, say, a string of attacks on mosques or police recruiting stations? Murdoc would like to think these coordinated attacks on Christians would get the same treatment, but he wouldn’t be surprised to find out differently.

There are about 1.5 million Christians living in Iraq.

  1. I find it terribly ironic that our invasion has resulted in the decimation of the Christian community more than any other in Iraq. They would probably be our natural allies and I’d actually be willing to accept Iraqi Christians as immigrants because they would assimilate much better than others.

If the US doesn’t seem to care about about their fate in Iraq, I wonder if they also get screwed on immigration to the US. I have heard plenty of stories of Iraqi muslims coming here, but I don’t recall any on Christians. I don’t know if they are discriminated against, I am just saying I don’t recall hearing many stories of them be allowed in like I do with the mussulmen.

There are about 1.5 million Christians living in Iraq. I think that number is pre-invasion.
