Reagan would have been 100 today

  1. Dear Murdoc, you kind overrate Mr.Reagan a lot. I know he had those nice speeches about freedom and how he spent a lot of money in the military, something you enjoy very much.

But no politician that run huge deficits can be said to be a real friend of freedom. Deficits are a big burden in the long term to the citizens and always mean an expansion of the state in some matter.

Here is a text about Reagan wrote by Murray Rothbard.

Rotbhard took a very pro-freedom instance, avoiding must contradctions even when being truly for freedom came against the so called common sense.

    1. Yah. Reagan should have been a better friend to freedom by not spending so much money on winning the Cold War.

A billion people still under Communism, but at least the US budget would look a little prettier.

  2. Yeah, because the Soviet Union fell simply because Reagan made every american citizen owe more money to some banker or another country.

I can imagine the soviet comissar thinking “My god, Reagan spending so much money, we can’t stand how awesome that is!!! Our system will collapse due to the awesomeness of american debt getting bigger!”

It had nothing to with sound economical theory that doomed socialism from the beginning, knowing that with the abolition of markets, things wouldn’t make sense. Or all the struggle of eastern europeans tired of a failed system. Reagan crazy spending was more important than all that like magic.

And giving how much the american debt is currently growing, I’m sure all terrorists will have a sudden heart attack once they access the US Debt Clock webpage.

If it makes you feel better to interpret it that way, who am I to stop you?
