South Korea’s ‘Super Gun’

Via The Firearm Blog:

Says the Firearm Blog:

The media has made a big deal about this system but American and European turret systems could easily run software to automatically detect and engage targets. They don’t because it isn’t a very good idea.

That should be amended to include “in most applications.” Murdoc would argue that the Korean border is a place where this sort of system might be called for.

And, no, Murdoc is not in favor of automated guns on the Mexican border. But he’d have no problem with remote controlled guns with good optics every few hundred yards. Of course, we can’t even decide to build a chain-link fence, so high-tech robo-guns aren’t coming anytime soon.

  1. Even if it might not actually exist, the propaganda value of such a theoretical gun system has to have some value in a freakish place like the Korean border.

    1. Good point. They’ll be more impressed by this than their fearless leaders nine holes in one. Because, in their heart, they’ll think this is possible.

  2. Speaking of the Mexican boarder. How about a few claymores,,,say three or four rows deep. Not very humane but very effective and the word will spread pronto,,,no.

  3. I can see it vaporising soft, fuzzy bunnies like in the movie Doomsday……..PETA and the like will be over the edge on it. Funny you should mention this in connection with the US Mexican border. When I worked that gig in the W. Bank, we commuted back forth from Jerusalem to the work site daily; had plenty of opportunity to check out the “Separation Fence”. It isn’t………..it’s really a tall concrete wall with manned guard posts, and various electronic monitoring systems interleved, depending on the terrain, neighborhood threat, and localised Israeli security goals. I’ve been advocating this for our southern border for years. It’s big, ugly, expensive, labor intensive (manned guard posts and TC check points), and works like gang busters. Never happen though, the Dems want illegals to help coopt the Hispanic vote, and the Pubs, despite their blather about border security; have never done anything serious about sealing the border to all but legal traffic, even when they had the WH.

This is one of the things that pisses Murdoc off the most about the GOP.

  4. “Of course, we can’t even decide to build a chain-link fence….”

Even if the U.S. built a chainlink fence it would do absolutely no good.

Most of the Mexicans wear those pointy-toed shoes. I think the brand name is: Latino fence climbers.

  5. I’ve been in love with this concept ever since the extended cut of Aliens where they set up the sentry guns in the corridors to keep out the bugs.

Hey, we have confirmed Hezbolla support of the cartels, and people being run out of their homes and ranches as far as 60 miles or more into Texas already, not to mention automatic weapons fire from non US citizens on THIS side of the border.

Sorry, the time for touchy feely is over. I say, its time for Ma Deuce equipped smart guns.
