I received an email response to a discussion of Venezuela consisting of the following:

I think Hugo Chavez scares the white man.

Could we please be a little more specific? I responded

Did you write “the white man”? Wow. I mean, if you say “The Jazz Singer” or “The Italian Stallion” or even “The Man With No Name” I know exactly who you mean. But “the white man”? Pardon my ignorance. Which white man would that be?

And why is this guy scared of Hugo Chavez?

Am I out of line here? A little help, please.


  1. I think Hugo Chavez scares the white man.’ I think he means Jacko. That crazy guy’s scared of a lot of freaky stuff. Wouldn’t surprise me if Chavez terrified him.
