‘Even Bill Clinton didn’t say things this galactically retarded’

Just Shut Up, Moron….

  1. This is OT, but I think MO and readers might enjoy it. Here is the Pentagon Comptroller’s website. There are several PDFs which give a breakdown on the budget and various weapons programs. It makes for interesting reading material.

  2. Clinton was a much better orator. This video is why they don’t let the Big O go anywhere without a TelePrompTer. Look, let’s be real: as much as I dislike the guy, I can’t for the life of me believe that what he actually said is what he actually meant. He just didn’t connect the thought dots; the civilians are not soldiers, hence they need protection. Do I hate him enough to believe that he may actually feel that way about soldiers in his deepest darkest recesses? Maybe. But it does make for a phenomenally embarrassing sound-bite.

I don’t disagree with you on that. Even if he really does HATE the troops, he wouldn’t say so out loud. I don’t think so, anyway.

I do think, however, that the fact that this came out the way it did probably shows that it never occurred to the people writing or delivering the speech that it sounded bad. And that reveals more than a little, in my mind. It slipped through the editorial cracks because it didn’t register on their radar, and that’s telling.

It’s sort of like how people will fall all over themselves to make sure they don’t offend some minority groups but don’t think twice about making fun of redneck hillbillies. I’m not equating what was said here to that, but I’m equating the idea that people filter some things very carefully and don’t even think twice about other things…I think this indicates that their filter for troops isn’t the same as for others. Which isn’t all that surprising.
