IRAQI URANIUM NOW IN U.S. LABS

From DefenseTech, which tries to keep an eye on the security at US nuclear installations, especially Los Alamos:

The good news: U.S. troops and scientists have taken a heap of radioactive material out of insecure locations in Iraq. The bad news: they may have brought the stuff to insecure locations here in America.

What if that’s the plan? The terrorists think they might not be able to smuggle dirty bomb material through our ironclad border security, so they have it brought in by the government. Sort of like in DIE HARD when the thieves need that final electromagnetic lock defeated:

293 INT. VAULT ROOM – NIGHT 293

Hans and Theo lean over a monitor watching a DWP truck near
the parking garage.

THEO *
(tapping the screen)
There’s the city engineers…they’re
going into the street circuits…But
who are these guys in the suits?

HANS
That’s the FBI…ordering them to cut *
the building’s power. They’re as
regular as clockwork…or a time lock…

ON Theo’s look:

HANS
…the circuits that cannot be cut…
are cut automatically in reponse to
a terrorist incident…You ask for
miracles, Theo…I give you the FBI…

THEO
When you’re hot, you’re hot.

Let’s hope things aren’t TOO hot.

Go read the DefenseTech post for all sorts of encouraging stuff on this.
