Washington state governor re-recount begins

Count ANY Vote

Random Nuclear Strikes has a summary of the current situation in the state of Washington.

To show how big of Drama Queens the King County Dems are, let me just tell you that the county election commissioners (2 Dems, 1 Repub) voted, you guessed it, 2-1 to have the county’s ballots transported the 12 miles from a warehouse in Seattle to their current location under an 8 car police escort in Code 3 status (lights and sirens).

No other county in the state did this that I know of or have heard of.

I am surprised they didn’t call the news choppers out so as to get ‘how much they care’ about my vote on celluloid.

Go read.

Not sure if there’s any capability to, or any demand for, a re-recount spreadsheet. I’m not sure how the numbers are going to come in, and I think everyone’s finally figured out how the recount is going work:

1. Count votes
2. If Dino Rossi wins, recount votes
3. Repeat step #2 until Gregoire wins, then go to step #4
4. Stop the taxpayer-funded madness “for the good of the state”

I’m not sure how to develop a spreadsheet that accurately models that scenario. Maybe my smarter brother has an idea or two.

UPDATE: Well, my smarter brother thinks he’s going to put a sheet together so we can watch the re-recount. I’ll post it if/when he does. Stay tuned.

  1. You forgot a step. Here’s my take on it: 1. Count votes 2. If Dino Rossi wins, alter the set of ballots counted and the rules for counting them 3. Recount votes 3. Repeat step #2-3 until Gregoire wins, then go to step #4 4. Stop the taxpayer-funded madness ‘for the good of the state’ If you do this enough times, some set of ballots and rules for counting will result in a Gregoire victory.

  2. Good clarification, KTLA. I didn’t mean to suggest that a simple same-method, same-ballots recount would be performed in the event of another Rossi win. What do you think I am? Nuts?

  3. Last I heard – a missing step would be: hassle the high court until they agree to count the votes previously thrown out, then so on and so forth.

  4. Thankee for the linkage, Murdoc. I think Joy has it about right. Correction for tomorrow, the court has decided to hear arguments on Monday @ 1330PST. A couple of the counties are already done, so go figure.
