So much cooler than the “Gavin Brigade”, I guess

Stryker praised for helping USF’s local campus grow

In the Bradenton Herald:

SARASOTA – University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee faculty chairman Robert Barylski coined the phrase, “The Stryker Brigade” to explain the rapid growth in the past half-decade at USF’s local campus.

Student population at the local USF campus has risen from 2,423 to roughly 3,200 students in five years, according to a report presented at the USF Sarasota-Manatee Campus Board meeting Thursday.

Laurey Stryker has been chief executive officer at the local USF campus during much of this period of growth.

“Every time I watch televised reports of our military from Iraq and they mention striker brigades winning positions, I think of our own Stryker Brigade,” said Barylski, who was dean of USF’s local campus from 1979 to 1990.

This, more than anything, illustrates the success of the Stryker light armored vehicle.

Well, okay. Not really. (And a big HELLO to Bradenton, Florida!)
