Quagmire, Day #734

Ordinary Iraqis Wage a Successful Battle Against Insurgents

If the recent reports of the improved performance of the Iraqi army and security forces are accurate, and if these “ordinary Iraqi” stories are true, it is o-v-e-r.

But we won’t know for sure until the people who are little kids right now are running Iraq. I welcome the apparent good news and I find satisfaction in the fact that many neighboring nations are clamoring for something akin to freedom. But I’m not going to get ahead of myself.

There is still a long, long way to go. We are on the right path, which is more than many opponents of Bush will even admit, but don’t kid yourself–we have barely begun the process.
