“Truth Tour” discussed on Fox News

Is right-wing radio “Truth Tour” in Iraq biased?

Here’s a good one. Fox News Watch discusses an upcoming tour of Iraq by Conservative radio journalists and debates whether they’re going to be biased or not.

Here’s what they’re all about:

The mission of the team MAF is leading to Baghdad: to get the news straight from our troops serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, including the positive developments and successes they are achieving. This is the good news that the old-line liberal news media won’t tell you about.

So I think it’s safe to say that they’re going to be at least an eensy weensy bit biased.

That being said, I think it says something that the issue of their bias is being debated on Fox News (of all places). Think about it a minute. If a group of Liberal talk show radio personalities mounted a mission to Iraq to report on the armored vehicle situation or the morale of the Stop-Lossed troops because they didn’t think those issues received enough attention, would we consider their reports to be biased?

And, more to the point, would the issue of their bias be discussed on CBS News or in the editorial pages of the New York Times?

Not likely.

What we’d probably hear from them is that finally, finally, someone is going to dig into these important issues and get the details back to the American public.

So, while it’s fair to say that the “Truth Tour” is heading out with a pre-conceived notion of the story they want to tell, let’s not lose sight of the fact that many times this is the case. And rarely does it get debated. Or even recognized.

There’s video of the discussion on the post, and I encourage you to check it out if you’ve got broadband.

Also, I’d like to point out some of the comments left on the post:

Just curious: will these commentators in Iraq be given military protection? If life in Iraq is so great, they shouldn’t need any, right?

You know I agree about the negative press. I mean all we hear about London now is how they got bombed.

I wonder whether these douche bag talk show hosts will visit the permanent bases we are building and ask the Iraqi people they meet “will you ever quit fighting us as long as we have permanent bases and a permanent military presence in your country in order to steal your oil?”

Let me guess…they will come back and say everything is great in Iraq. Hmmmm….more propaganda akin to Goebbels? Can hardly wait.

I’m not all that familiar with the Crooks and Liars site. I wonder what sort of folks frequent the place?
