Pretty much armored everything

On Wednesday, I posted a pic of USAF personnel lowering an armored cab onto a M931 truck tractor at Balad Air Base, Iraq. What I didn’t realize when I posted was that the pic, which I found in the daily DoD Imagery mailing, was in an Air Force Link story on the ending of operations at the up-armoring facility. Since almost everything now being sent to Iraq is already armored, and everything in Iraq that can be up-armored has been up-armored, there’s little need for the shop.

Read the whole thing: Balad add-on armor shop comes to a close. With a few more pics.

  1. Good news! Every vehicle going to Iraq is properly armored. Bad news! Every vehicle going to Iraq needs to be properly armored. Ever wonder how many armored vehicles the Iraqi police have?

  2. I will make this post my last exception: LOL Give me figures or numbers. ‘Not enough’ or ‘not nearly enough’ is absolutely useless information. I knew that much myself.

  4. Sorry for the additional post… slow internet, coupled with a change in thought (i pressed the stop button then changed it a little).
