Kiki’s Delivery Service

Kiki DVD

Murdoc just finished watching Kiki’s Delivery Service with the kids. I’ve seen it at least a half-dozen times and I’ve got to say that it is definitely worth it. Especially if you have children.

Yes, it’s animated. And yes, we watch the English-dubbed version (with Kirsten Dunst as Kiki). But it’s good stuff. I bet you’ll like it if you give it a chance.

(Not recommended for Marines in field. Your buddies will kill you if you try it. Usually because they don’t want anyone else to know how much they enjoy a Japanese animated movie about a teenage girl who’s a witch in training…)

The DVD is also available in the Miyazaki 3 Pack which includes Spirited Away (also highly-recommended) and Castle in the Sky (which I haven’t seen but have heard is very good).

Sometimes watching stuff without belt-fed weapons, air-to-air missiles, or capital warships is okay, you know…

  1. Sometimes watching stuff without belt-fed weapons, air-to-air missiles, or capital warships is okay, you know…’ Somehow you managed to find the one Anime title targetted at children which DOESN’T feature giant robots with lots of missiles and laser beams fighting in space. Good work! 🙂

  2. Sometimes watching stuff without belt-fed weapons, air-to-air missiles, or capital warships is okay…’ Sure you CAN; but why would you…?

  3. Princess Mononoke is much better’ Yes, but Mononoke is not nearly so kid friendly. If he has young kids the lepers, demons and decapitations might scare them. That said it IS quite good. I highly reccomend Laputa, it was my favorite of his before Mononoke. Very kid friendly, whimsical action flick with a Jules Verne kind of flavor.
