Last week I posted about a school boy suspended because he drew a picture of a Marine shooting a Taliban fighter in the head. It turns out that there was more to the story.

But officials at Tinton Falls Middle School noted that the boy included the name of a fellow student above the stick figure being shot in the head.

The drawing, which Scott [Switzer] made on a computer last Tuesday, included the words “Thomas Brooks was here” above the figure of the bloodied Taliban fighter. [Mrs.] Switzer said her son told her he put the name of Brooks, who she said is his friend, on the picture as a joke.

Well, that’s not all that funny to me, Mr. Switzer. And I don’t even know Thomas Brooks.

I retract my earlier statements about over-reaction and I withdraw my comparison to a scene from The Sixth Sense.

Although I’m not 100% certain that this is really as bad as school officials claim it is, I fully support their judgement if the allegation that a student’s name (friend or otherwise) is above the dying figure is accurate.
