Russia tests powerful ‘dad of all bombs’

The Russian military has successfully tested what it described as the world’s most powerful non-nuclear air-delivered bomb, Russia’s state television reported Tuesday.

It was the latest show of Russia’s military muscle amid chilly relations with the United States.

Channel One television said the new weapon, nicknamed the “dad of all bombs” is four times more powerful than the U.S. “mother of all bombs.”

The other articles I’ve seen on this translate it as “father of all bombs”, not “dad”. It’s a fuel air explosive “thermobaric” bomb.

Comments

  1. If the Russians were really smart, they’d spend billions developing a new small member bomb like we did. Those are scary. Real scary.

  2. And the purpose of my tool is not to get Precious that coveted F/A designation they wanted so badly. I just thought I should clarify that one.

  3. Well, the Russians have always thought bigger/more is better. I can’t really get too geeked up over their new bomb anyway. We’re developing new/different weapons constantly if we view it as likely to fill a need, further our interests, or the R&D guys got enough military or Senators/Reps in their pocket to get funding. It’s no surprise other countries do the same thing. When we do it, it’s cool……………when you do it, you’re muscle flexing bickheads. Can’t have it both ways and not be a hypocrit.

  4. From what I know about fuel air explosives (very not much) the explosion has to be carefully done or you will just get a fireball instead of a blast (they talked about this a lot during the recent london bomb plot). The video from the russian test looks different than the videos for the MOAB. A big fireball of energy going straight up. The russian bomb may be four times as big but is it necessarily four times as powerful? I dont know. Am I making sense or making it up.

  5. Timming is everything. If you’re in the wrong spot at the wrong time a teeny-weeny M-29 frag will take you out just the same as a MOAB.

  6. Maybe Putin has a small penis. He seems really insecure. ‘The North Pole is ours! Our bomb is bigger than yours!’ Its not even that Russia doesn’t have the right to be going bigger. Its just that they always seem to get the idea after they see us do it, and feel like they have to pull out their man part to measure up. Add to that a country that is falling back into a de facto dictatorship and its just not good news. Dictators with inferiority complexes don’t bode well for the rest of the world.

  7. I have a good idea for a weapon for our awesome armed forces. Why don’t we buy a bunch of Chinese made bb guns and leave them laying around Iraq. That way the terrorists will find them and start having bb gun wars. You know, that’s always good fun until someone puts an eye out. Oh yeah, we should mark through the safety warnings on the box too.
