More British paratroopers to Afghanistan

Everyone is so caught up with the story about the British withdrawing troops from Iraq that they’re forgetting Afghanistan. Rogue Gunner notes a Brit story that’s not getting play:

BRITAIN is to deploy its biggest contingent of paratroopers and special forces since WW2

Ministers are to send 3,000 paratroopers, including the whole of the Parachute Regiment to southern Afghanistan in the spring, as well as trebling the number of special forces in the country.

It will be the first time in the regiment’s history that all four para battalions, including its reservists, have fought together on the same battlefield.

  1. That may be so, but I doubt they’ll be introduced into the theater by air drop. The Para’s are definitely needed, given reports of a massive Taliban buildup over the border from Pakistan.
