On March 6, Janeane Garofalo was on FoxNews’ O’Reilly Factor, and after standing by her claim that Saddam and GW Bush are “equal but different” threats to the world, she said she would personally apologize to the president if we won and Iraqis were glad we had come in.

O’Reilly: If you are wrong, all right, and if the United States — and they will, this is going to happen — goes in, liberates Iraq, people in the street, American flags, hugging our soldiers, all right, we find all kinds of bad, bad stuff, all right, in Iraq, you gonna apologize to George W. Bush?

Garofalo: I would be so willing to say I’m sorry, I hope to God that I can be made a buffoon of, that people will say you were wrong, you were a fatalist, and I will go to the White House on my knees on cut glass and say, hey, you were right, I shouldn’t have doubted you. But I think to think that is preposterous.

Personally, I don’t think either the cut glass or the apology is necessary. What she can do is KEEP HER MOUTH SHUT when she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and in this country we cherish the freedom of personal expression, but why would anyone really care what she has to say? Listening to her makes it pretty clear that she isn’t any better informed than the typical citizen, but she has access to coverage because of her status as an entertainer. Why doesn’t she get her own blog? It works for me.
