I wonder if the situation is deteriorating, or if the Taliban is specifically targeting them. Maybe they are trying to get the French out of Afghanistan (maybe even out of NATO again) if they can cause enough casualties. I like good French military jokes as much as the next guy, but the units in Afghanistan – French Marines and Foreign Legion Paratroopers, are no joke. They got caught in convoy and their KIA were in the destroyed vehicles. The rest of them stopped and proceeded to kick ass. The French were placed in a relatively safe area of Afghanistan.
