Rumor has it that Lt. General Ali Hasan Majid was among the “targets of opportunity” possibly hit during the opening attacks. He commanded the southern military district of Iraq, and wan nicknamed “Chemical Ali” after his chemical strikes against Kurdish villages in 1988. Gee, I hope he’s okay. But, alas, the rumor indicates that he may have been killed in the attack. That is one seriously bad guy, and the world is better off without him.
Update 11:29 22 Mar 2003
And about that neurosurgeon supposedly summoned after the initial attacks? Maybe to work on Qusay? If he had been summoned a few years ago to give the Big ‘S’ and his sons lobotomies, everyone would have been better off.
Update 21:16 23 Mar 2003
Now everyone seems to think he’s still alive and lead the defense of An Nasiriyah. Given the cowardly tactics employed by the Iraqis there, including surrendering, then calling in artillery on the Allied troops coming out to accept the surrender, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was him.
