Probably ... but since the Iranians now have regiments of infantry mounted on motorcyles as suicide bombers and RPG-launchers, he was just predicting the future.

There's the answer ... we'll just give sport bikes to the Iranians! Asymmetric tactics un-asymmetricked!

Bram: Now that you mention it, wasn't that one of the tactics that got Van Riper in a bit of trouble during 2002 war games? I remember noting it in 2003.

I've been riding since 1970, my current bike is a Kawasaki ZX14, I've got a Sato racing Ti exhaust, and a Dyna Jet power Commander III (auxiliary programmable ECU on it). 530 lbs + 200 HP at the crank = BIG fun. None of 'em go any faster than you make them. As sad as the story is about these guys; it's a classic example of youthful over exuberance combined with inexperience, a desire to blow off steam, and likely PTSD (or a lesser form) in "some" cases. I'm pretty sure there's more to the story than what the doom, death, and disaster merchants reported too................they just didn't care to do the work, or tell us the whole story (as noted by DaveP).

"A ‘Busa- not even a new one, and bone stock- will do almost 100MPH IN FIRST GEAR."

Heck,

That's nothing.

I saw a Harley Sportster break 100 in neutral.

In some old B-movie a guy drove one off the ramp of a C-130. After hitting terminal velocity the guy pulled the rip-cord and floated gently to the ground. Unfortunately the Sportster didn't fare quite as well.

I forget the title of the movie. Perhaps that's good.

If you know for a fact that reporters see no problem in publishing articles in which they make authoritative comments about economics, firearms, the law, and military affairs- issues they are totally innocent of any clue about- why are you surprised they publish clueless articles involving motorcycles?

BTT, I'd be surprised if the majority of the bikes invoolved weren't sportbikes: young guys love 'em to death and stupid speed is what they are all about. A 'Busa- not even a new one, and bone stock- will do almost 100MPH IN FIRST GEAR.
