Yeah … but the defense is fairly simple. Don’t park your car in an unsecured area, if you do park post a guard, and look the vehicle over before you move it. Note that they’re using these against Iraqi official vehicles and the personal vehicles of Iraqi civilians.
There’s a reason they give mirrors on sticks to guards at checkpoints. These things are pretty easy to spot if you look under the vehicle.
People had this problem in Northern Ireland. It simply requires a look over the car. Are the EOD teams at disposal for this sort of task? Or are they pretty much snowed under already?
It would be a great way to improve relations with the troops.
