National Ammo Day

National Ammo Day:

It is a nationwide BUYcott of ammunition. You buy ammunition. 100 Rounds a person.

The goals of Ammo Day:

The goal of National Ammo Day is to empty the ammunition from the shelves of your local gun store, sporting goods, or hardware store and put that ammunition in the hands of law-abiding citizens. Make your support of the Second Amendment known–by voting with your dollars!

There are an estimated 75 MILLION gun owners in the United States of America. If each gun owner or Second Amendment supporter buys 100 rounds of ammunition, that’s 7.5 BILLION rounds in the hands of law-abiding citizens!

The gun/ammunition manufacturers have been taking the brunt of all the frivolous lawsuits, trying to put these folks out of business. Well, not if we can help it! And we CAN help it by buying ammunition on November 19!

Murdoc ordered a bunch of ammo online. I don’t know if that counts or not, but I’m also planning to pick up another 100 rounds at the local store on the way home.

  1. I’m in for 1400 rounds! They look suspiciously similar to the ones in the picture you posted…

One of the guys in the office here went out at lunch, and said the local Dick’s is already out of everything but the oddball stuff.

It’s a better investment than gold, IMO.

  2. You can never have enough ammo.

Within ammo, it doesn’t hurt to have a pile of steel jacket Wolf laying around.

  3. Layman: I’ve not seen anyone say it doesn’t. Obviously, buying .22LR is different than most other ammo. But if that’s all you need/want/can afford, go for it. Murdoc’ll vouch for ya.

FWIW, I think I’ll probably get a big box o’ .22LR while I’m at it.

  4. Ordered 300 rounds of 182 gr. 7.62x54r and 100 rounds of Wolf 174 gr. .303 Brit from Sportsman’s Guide.

Probably pick up a brick of 22LR on the way home.

  5. Forgot the .22! Oh, well. I’ve got probably 2000 rounds right now, so that’s at least an afternoon’s worth.

My online order was from Sportsman’s Guide. I’ve had good luck with them.

I picked up a hundred rounds of 30 Carbine on my way home. The shelves at the local store looked a little thinner than they did on Monday, but not too much so.

Did I just say I picked up some 30 Carbine? What would I need that for? Unless, say, I had also recently picked up an M1…

  6. Well, mine came in a couple “sardine cans”. I’d never dealt with those before. When I got them home tonight, I couldn’t figure out how the hell to get them open.

I eventually drilled a hole in the top of one (very carefully…), and used a pair of tin snips to chop open an access hole.

The first thing I saw was an American flag printed on a box! Weird….

Turns out they are Romanian, and boxed in “Hot Shot” brand boxes. They weren’t on stripper clips, but I’ve got plenty of those already.

When I went to throw the shipping box away, a foot long can opener fell out of the bottom.

  7. If that’s the same Hotshot .223 I’ve bought before, its pretty good stuff. I think its even steel core semi armor piercing. Shot through two turns of half inch thick steel on an old auger bit. Softer steel to be sure, but still impressive to see on such a small round.

Oh, I mean they’re cop killers. Sorry HCI.

  8. I must sadly report that I am, at present, unable to join in the festivities. My current financial situation prohibits my purchasing any ammunition until the first of the year.

After that, however, it’s “Katy bar the door!” as I will also be shopping for a new .45 auto and a long rifle before the new administration takes office.

  9. Not to rain on anyone’s parade here but the phrase ‘law-abiding citizens’ showed up twice in the blurb about Ammo Day. In no way do online ammo sites require/guarantee that people who purchase ammo are law abiding (or even citizens).

I don’t mean to discourage anyone from buying or anything like that but I had to call BS on the whole law abiding part.

  10. hunter: They verify my identity as much as they’re legally required to. Therefore I’m buying ammo in a law-abiding manner.

I’m sure you have a point. You’re going to have to make it.

  11. I dont obmoma will bring the redux of 94, the Dem congress will, obama will probably be overwritten on a veto on some type of ordinance ban on firearms

  12. I dont think obama will bring the redux of 94, the Dem congress will, obama will probably be overwritten on his veto on some type of ordinance ban on firearms they’ll most likely create
