"Everyone who has studied the history of World War II without bias knows that the war began because of Poland's refusal to satisfy Germany's claims"

I lulzed.

LOL naderbus.........the flamethrower and buckets of acid was too good!

I thought the coolest feature of the SNIPER system was the ability of ground troops to receive real time feed from it during recon and target IDing flights. It's real good to see over the next hill before you go there......and really real good to be sure the pilot is looking at the target you're looking at and not your position...........before the JDAM impacts!!!

Re: Conservatives are more easily disgusted.

People who squirm at the sight of bugs or are grossed out by blood and guts are more likely to be politically conservative, new studies find.

After reading this first sentence, I knew this article was BS. After all, I thought conservatives were all the gun nuts and survivalists who liked to hunt and fish.

Impressive the first LCS came in a 700 million and prices continue to spiral. Striving to meet the 450 million cap cost....

This is nuts. I don't care who makes the damn boats, but 5,6 7 hundred million for these pieces of crap is insane. These are glorified patrol boats people.

Given projected fuel costs and the Navy sustainment budgets, there is no way the fuel accounts can support these fuel hogs even if the Navy can somehow fiddle with the acquisition budgets to buy more these death traps.

When I heard they had given the A10s a SLEP overhaul, I was happy to hear it. 28000 hours service life now, supposed to be in service now for almost another twenty years. But then I was still sad because I realized that it's still going to be retired some day. And you know the Airforce will never let them build another slow, ugly, and utterly effective ground attack plane like that again.

The only thing that plane is missing is a flame thrower and buckets of acid and/or boiling oil.

Please do read _Shattered_Sword_. You will be glad you did.

To be brief, the authors' conclusion is that Fuchida lied in his post-war memoirs, and noted that (pretty-much) all of the succeeding authors used Fuchida's accounts to analyze the battle.

The authors spend all of their time on the Japanese accounts. They examine Japanese carrier operating procedures and the logs of landings and takeoffs to show that the carriers there weren't *just about* to launch a raid on the US carriers, and why Hiryu was the carrier that wasn't attacked in the first raid. They analyze, from accounts, ship architecture and timing, who put what bomb on what carrier. And then there is the adventure of the survivors of the hulk of Hiryu.

They do their homework, and their work was helpful in finding part of the Kaga a few years ago. Run, don't walk, to your library and get this book!

Palestinian armored vehicles: Will these augment or replace the existing fleet of ambulance troop carriers?

Artillery donation: Strictly speaking this would be a gift of tangible personal property. Her accountant should try for the max deduction, but beyond about $5k she'll need an appraisal, and I don't see the Keno twins coming anywhere near this thing.

Mercenaries: Not sure what lefties will do about this scenario- on the one hand you have icky mercenaries, but on the other hand they're helping bona-fide peacekeepers not die. It's a conundrum alright.
