National Defense Mag: Video Game Helps Teach Armor Officer Skills

MO has posted before about using standard video games, with little or no modification, as military training tools.

This months’ National Defense Magazine has a story about TacOpsCAV, a militarized version of the commercial TacOps game. It’s turn based, not realtime, but its accessibility greatly enhances its value.

This story on MultiPlayer Gamers discusses a newer version of the game, TacOpsMC, designed specifically for the Marine Corps and particular attention will be paid to the combat engineer aspects of combined arms.

A downloadable demo of TacOps 4 (the most recent version) is available here. Also, Home of the Underdogs has the full version of TacOps Classic (v.1? – review here) available for download.
