Unrelated: funny

"A slipping gear could let your M203 grenade launcher fire when you least expect it. That would make you quite unpopular with what's left of your unit."

The Silent Eagle is the way to go. You already have the infrastructure to support the bird, it would not take much to get the pilots up to speed. Factor in the logistics and the f-18 does not look so cheap.

In any event, capability-wise the F-15 has it all over the F-18 (any version). Personally I think the air-force would be better off buy 370 F-22 and about 1000 Silent Eagles and killing the F-35 (except for the STOL version)

More bugs or super bugs hu? While they're at it they can get an Air Force One F-18 going, an AWACS F-18, and if they lengthen out the fuselage enough, a new air force tanker hornet.

Though I have to admit that fifty million a pop sounds like a relative steal these days of eight to a hundred twenty million dollar planes, not even counting the Raptor. They talking F model here? The old bug's got to be out of production by now.

I don't really care what they buy, but they need to get some options going soon. JSF is still a ways off. I'm partial to the Silent Eagle, but then for 100 million a pop, they start to look a little overpriced.
